Dear Kindergarten and Second Grade Parents:
It has been a wonderful and busy year with our Kindergarten and Second grade students. It is nice to see everyone’s smiling faces in the morning. I would like to share some great news with you. Starting in January, Emerald Elementary will have a new teacher to teach a third section of Language Arts and Mathematics every day in Kindergarten and a third section for Second grade Language Arts every day. The new teacher is Madison Macek whose Welcome Letter is attached. Kindergarten students will still report to Mrs. Richey and Ms. LaMuth in the morning and then some of the students will go to Ms. Macek’s class after specials. Kindergarten students are currently used to moving between rooms to work on math and Language Arts stations. By adding the third teacher we are able to accommodate smaller classrooms and more space during Language Arts and math instruction. Kindergarten students will end the day, after the second recess, back in Mrs. Richey’s and Ms. LaMuth’s class to pack up and go home. Ms. Macek will start her day with Second grade students for Language Arts. The second graders will still report to Ms. Kozlowski and Mrs. Sherbinow in the morning and then, after Morning Meetings, a group of second graders will travel to Ms. Macek’s class to work on Language Arts every day. This too will offer more support for our second graders with an additional teacher and more space to work. This is a terrific opportunity to reduce class numbers and direct the proper attention to students in Kindergarten and Second grade classrooms. Aides and/or Tutors will continue to be a part of the daily classroom operations throughout the school year. At Emerald Elementary, we would like to thank you for your continued support! If you have any questions, feel free to give me a call. Sincerely, Erik E. Mason Principal Comments are closed.
